After
exploring Tagbilaran and
braving Danao, we spent our third day in Panglao for some beach escape. By this time in our trip, I was already speechless at Bohol’s beauty.
If only sunrise in Manila were this beautiful, I would never be late for work. :p |
Had a quick breakfast at our inn and left early to go dolphin watching before we visit the islands. I was expecting it to be similar to the butanding sighting in Donsol, where you'd get to see whale sharks every 5-10 minutes or so- not! There were too many boats that we just ended up scaring the dolphins off. We were able to catch a glimpse of several dolphins about 50meters away and that was that.
We did see Cebu, Dumaguete and Siquijor from our boat.. :)
We forgot about our major dolphin watching fail when we got to Balicasag island.

Part of our welcome committee. Well, hellooo Manong! |
Check out the super clear water. |
That's just beauty on the surface. Wait 'til you get underwater. :)
You remember "the drop" in Finding Nemo? |
More fishies! |
Martha giving them fishies their lunch. |
Bed of corals. |
Snorkeling in Balicasag is a no-fail activity. You won't run out fish to see and feed and take pictures of.

Karla chasing the fish. |
I don't know who's more puffer-faced, me or the puffer fish? |
Water temp's just perfect for snorkelling. |
Where's Nemo? |
Spotted! Nemos by The Drop.:) |
Karla's very kikay pink booties. |
Me getting swarmed by hungry fish!
After feeding hundreds of fish, it's time to feed ourselves. A-ja!:)
Calamari. |
Grilled fresh catch. |
Sinigang. |
The food on the island is superb! I'm a sucker for seafood and I say no expensive restaurant beats fresh catch.
Good bye, Balicasag! |
After Balicasag, we went off to another island, the Virgin Island which boasts of its famous sandbar.
Our trusty bangkero leading the way. |

Approaching the Virgin Island. |
Even at the peak of the day's heat (we went there after lunch), making our way to the Virgin Island was breathtaking (aside from heat exhaustion, that is. Haha). There were already several people when we got there, plus a handful of vendors.
On the island: sea urchins, 30 bucks a pop. Dare to try? |
The famous sandbar. |
It was high tide when we got to the island, revealing a crescent shape sandbar. The boatmen say the sand bar stretches almost to full circle during low tide.
The sole establishment on the island- fresh buko stand.:) |
View from the Island. I wouldn't mind baking under the sun in this place. |
Buko juice and sun baking on the island capped off our Bohol adventure. We went home from the beach, tired, tanned but totally thrilled of Panglao, and of our entire stay in Bohol.
From
natural wonders, to historical marvels; from giant structures to tiny creatures, Bohol is definitely one place you in the Philippines you should experience.:)
