Ludo Boardgame Bar & Cafe (and Why You Wouldn't Need Wi-Fi Here)

If you're looking for a great place to have dinner with friends or family, somewhere nice and quiet where you can take lots of #foodporn#foodgasm#instagramthatbowloflettucewithdressing shots, this isn't the place to go to.

This place is anything but quiet - it's packed with loud cheers, intense bickering, lots of laughter, and trails of applause from every corner.

A break from the deafening silence of people with their faces buried in smart phones as they check in, post food photos, and double tap, eh? :)

Welcome to Ludo Boardgame Bar & Cafe!

When was the last time to set up a board game and played?:)

Tucked in the scout area in Quezon City, Ludo is a haven for geeks, kids, and kids at heart, with the hundreds and hundreds of board games they have in their bar. And they offer something else on the menu - that not-so-common-anymore chance for people to ditch their gadgets and enjoy real, old school games.

Got the chance to visit this place as a surprise birthday treat from my friends, and it was a blast!:)

With the birthday crew (sans Dayen and Dimple).

It's pretty cool, for an order of their food or specialty drink, you get to play any board game you like from the bar. And they have tons. War games, word games, trivia games, mind(less) games. To everyone who's dreamt of playing Jumanji - they have it in the house! But it's just for display. Boo. Haha.

*Drools.*

So much for Monopoly and Scrabble.

We had a good session of Cards Against Humanity.

What don't you want to find in your Kung Pao chicken? :p

Then gave a shot at this zombie game I chose.

Let's see how Rick and the rest of the TWD gang feel like.

The even more awesome part is that you can ask anyone from their staff to teach you how to play any game you choose. We had Ludo owner himself, Jay, give us a crash course on this little monster.

Intense briefing. Haha.

The game was a bit challenging (he did dissuade warn us though that it's not a beginner's game), but we're such competitive UPIS freaks. I ended up being killed/eaten by zombies.

I fought a good fight. :))

The last game standing was this trivia game of greed. Mwahaha.

The game lived up to its name, I'm telling you.

Overall, it's a place you should definitely check out. The ambiance is great, the staff are friendly, the food is not super exceptional, but it's good enough and they have big servings.

You wouldn't be wanting/needing your phone while you're here. Not because the place isn't Instagram worthy, but 'you'd be too busy trying to beat the rest of your friends to even care.

It's all about the moneeeeey.

And the customers, well everyone seems to have a great time. People leave with still-fully-charged phones and tablets, giant smiles on their faces, and feeling more connected than they did with free Wi-fi on. Kudos to the brains behind this cafe. :)

Friends who geek out together…

If you're in the Tomas Morato area, Ludo is definitely a place to go. They also try to share the love for board games as they have some of them on sale. :) So round up your friends, get ready to roll the dice, and let the good 'ol games begin!

* Ludos Boardgame Bar & Cafe is located at Sct. Torillo cor. Sct. Fuentebella, Quezon City. 09209218482.
** Didn't bring Chuck with me here, so excuse the low res photos hehe.

    1. Onga eh, ansaya! Haha. Yup, Sct. Torillo lang. Food is okay, reasonably priced considering you can stay as long as you want. :)

  3. Since a lot of people had been asking - they do have Wi-Fi at Ludo, and it's free. Wouldn't be needing it much while you're there tho. :)
