Going Organique

I was never really into the whole green living thing. If you ask me, I'd rather live like Nigella Lawson who eats meat and butter and desserts and still look fabulous (haha!). But last week, my good friend Liway's older sister, Ate Mimay opened up a branch of an organic store run by Bios Dynamis, a sustainable development program of the Don Bosco Foundation.

While most organic stores are found in high end areas like Serendra or McKinley, Organique is located in your friendly Sikatuna neighborhood. And 'coz I haven't done my Christmas shopping for my officemates last week, I decided to give the shop a visit.

Organique by Bios Dynamis.

I never thought there are so many different organic stuff that people can buy! Aside from brown rice that's growing popular among the health conscious, there are organic juice concentrates, jams, cleansing teas, muscovado sugar, wild honey, dips.

Then there are a few stuff that I've never heard of like cocosugar. Apparently, it's doing really good for export because of it's low glycemic index that's good for people with diabetes. And tea granules. They're just as good as teas in bags but these come in assorted flavor and with brown sugar. Perfect for tea lovers.

DID YOU KNOW: It's healthier to buy the commercial white rice than the NOT organic brown/red/black rice? Brown rice only takes away the outer most layer of the palay. If they're not organically grown, you get to eat all the chemicals and pesticides stuck in the other layers. Yikes.

Yummeh. Assorted juice concentrates and jams from South Cotabato.

Clockwise from upper left: VCO from Santa Maria, Bulacan; assorted tea granules from North Cotabato; wild honey from North Cotabato; organic banana chips from North Cotabato.

Clockwise from upper left: coconut sugar from Davao del Sur; cacao from South Cotabato; coconut sugar from Laguna; coconut syrup from Davao del Sur.

And, o-jo! There's even organic detergent and cleansing products.

DID YOU KNOW: The Messy Bessy brand is made by a foundation for abused women. All profit when you buy their products goes to this foundation.

And organic make up! How chic is that?

Left to right: organic make up; organic soap; organic body butter. These stuff are all for export, btw.  Cool.

The store is originally from North Cotabato, they have more than 20 branches down south and the one in Sikatuna is their first in Luzon. But the good thing is, they carry products from different organic farms from all over the country. So not only are you getting good healthy stuff, you also get to help organic farmers when you buy these products.:)

And it puts a big check mark on my Christmas shopping list. :)

All organic goodies.

Thanks Ate Mimay! For a different shopping experience.
So all you health conscious guys and gals out there, or those who want to give organic goodies a go, try out Organique. They're got more good, organic stuff coming in the next few weeks (read: organic meat, chicken and YOGURT. I die.:p).

More reasons to go healthy and go Organique.:)

Organique by Bios Dynamis is located at Matino cor. Malumanay Street, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City; tel nos. 921-5095 or 0922-8352388.
