Just when we thought a Beatles night sponsored by UST batch 80-something would be a bore (what? 3/4 of the crowd were old enough to our parents haha), it turned out to be one of the coolest Bistro nights to date. :)
Weren't able to catch the first sets but made it just in time for Kevin Roy's set. The place was real jam packed that half the people were already standing. Roy did his own take on Beatles hits from circa '67 onwards. Except for a drunken-sexy-crazy version of "You Really Got a Hold on Me."
"...hold me, hold, hold me, tighter, tighter." |
Then it was Chikoy of The Jerks doing the "older" Beatles songs. Haha.
Think Ramon Jacinto 100x cooler, minus the ballroom. |
Mean duets. |
We still got a taste of the earlier sets we missed 'cause the ladies of the night couldn't get enough of the mic!:)
Kevin Roy, Chikoy, Bayang Barrios and Cookie Chua ending the set with a spontaneous rendition of "I Get By with a Little Help from My Friends." |
And because we were drunk anyway (which doesn't happen very often anymore since I switched jobs) decided to go on ultimate fan girl mode. Hahaha.
Harassing Kevin Roy. Haha. |
Starstruck! He grills politicians during the day and drinks beer at night. #whosmoreawesomethanCondradodeQuiros |
Rule is, you never have your drunken photo taken. Unless it's with a drunk Cookie Chua. |
With Tsong of Reggae Mistress.:) They played during my sister's wedding before and he's the coolest! |
This night reminded me to thank Beatles for the music. Mehn, life wouldn't be the same without Lucy, Prudence, Penny Lane and even the Walrus.
Of course kudos to great Filipino talent whose hearts would always be with and for music (as their livers are to alcohol). Salamat sa musika!
Hands down. |
And for reminding me how fun it is to every once in a while catch yourself laughing in a corner with beer in hand. :)
Sanity break. :) |
'Til next gig!
*Except for the first photo, thanks Mau Maquiddang for the great shots used in this post.
